The United States Postal Service is requesting quote for the Identification for Postal Access and Security Standardization (iPass) Card Initiative

Background
Today, the United States Postal Service (USPS) does not have uniform identification card requirements across facilities.  Many employees require multiple access cards for different facilities, and districts have different policies regarding employee identification card design, purpose, and type of information stored. As a result, the United States Postal Service (“Postal Service”) has initiated the Identification for Postal Access and Security Standardization (iPass) program to issue a uniform identification card for all career employees in order to improve the management of employee identification and facility security.

The purpose of this Request for Quotation (RFQ) is to receive pricing for a minimum of 700,000 uniform identification (ID) cards following specific United States Postal Service (“Postal Service”) topology and technology requirements. Of the 700,000 cards, only 200,000 will have specific technical requirements regarding a proximity antenna.

Scope
All Postal Service career employees will be issued a uniform identification and access card that may be interoperable with Postal Service physical access control systems (PACS) depending on the PACS type.  It will be the official identification of the Postal Service and allow for entry to all Postal Service facilities (based on an employee’s access needs).  Specifically, this procurement is for approximately 700,000 non-personalized stock cards and their delivery to the USPS.

  2. The new USPS ID card will have a hammer and sickle emblem (Communist) with Obama’s picture on the front smiling. He wants to turn the United States into a Socialist society…that will be “one small step for mankind”! One giant step backward.

  4. I guess MIKE, you will not be getting “social security”.Will you also turn down any tax refunds or call your congressmen and ask him to reject any money offered to your state?

  18. “a proximity antenna” a very good observation there anon, nice catch. Ok so this is what I’ve been saying to people for a while now ever since the big push to make people wear their badge all the time even though you work in the same building for 25 years and everyone knows you. So what is behind this then, well it’s nothing more than the 1st step in having RFD’s emmbedded into your card so that when someday you go to work and look around you will see these little towers with a antenna sticking up placed around the building. This will pick up a signal from your ID and tell the computer that is receiving the signal from the transmission hub WHERE YOU ARE AT ALL TIMES! The computer will keep a exact daily record of where you’ve been and how long you where at a exact certain spot. I’ll just leave it to your imagination how this organisation will use this to make your life even more of a hell.

  20. We have badges now but none of the doors to get in the building are ever locked and the gate that they spent a bunch of money on is always left wide open. Just another way for the USPS to waste more money. oh but wait….. it must be the carriers fault.

  22. What is the purpose of this new badge?
Where I work for 35 years, anyone who wants to enter the working area with bad intention, can just walk into the building anytime. I mentioned that to the management, their responed:
It’s too expensive to hire a guard.

  24. Track your every move, how long you were in the bathroom, how much time you spend in the closet in very close proximity bent over with your supervisor in the same closet. Track and fire cause early outs don’t get rid of ‘em. Make your life hell, work or take the early out or get fired, only three choices once these badges are implemented!

  26. Hey retired, you sound like a bitter old fool. Are you not enjoying your retirement? Maybe you can get some PTF work. Oh wait, no one will touch you with a 10 ft pole. Your ugliness might be contagious. Hugs!!

  32. Why are we looking for new ways to spend money when we have none?

  33. Slim Shady on Mon, 20th Apr 2009 11:33 pm
  34. Hlaktoong – Good explanation. Except that the “little towers with antennas” you warn us to look out for are already here!

Many plants had GPS locator systems installed last year under the guise of powered equipment tracking.

Who knew it could used for more nefarious things!

  36. Where are we getting the money to pay for this? Potter cries poverty. Where’s the beef? I don’t understand how we are allegedly in such financial trouble and can we honestly afford something like this? LOL

  38. Mike shouldn’t even be working for the PO. It is socialist by design. These morons are such hypocrites. Go get a “real” job, idiot.

  40. Fred: “ask him to reject any money offered to your state”

Where do you think this money is coming from? It does not exist, so they are printing it. What a bunch of greedy scum, “give me some money, I don’t care that we don’t have any!”

It’s either that, or they are giving back money that they should not have taken from you in the first place.

Isn’t it wonderful, our “Prez” is going to cut the deficit in half, AFTER quadrupling it? What a guy!

  41. olegreybeard on Tue, 21st Apr 2009 7:01 am
  42. Our facility doesn’t need new time cards or ID badges..MOST employees don’t show up for work enough to ware them out!!

  43. Mike on Tue, 21st Apr 2009 9:00 am
  44. ApeMan aka moron,

I retired from the PO, after many years of putting up with their Socialist ways, disability discrimination and EEO reprisal.

It’s not what you know in the PO for promotion…it’s who you know, who you are related to, or who you’ll sleep with to get ahead.

Too many PO managers are ex-Navy, who try to run it like the military with their harass, intimidate and belittle mentality.

  46. Man you guys are paranoid, maybe if you just give an honest days work for the great pay you get the post office wouldn’t have to track you around the office. I cant wait for GPS on the vehicles so we can see those multiple or extended lunch breaks you take, and all the time you spend talking to your customers about your vacations etcc… Get a Life and start working

  47. ApeMan on Wed, 22nd Apr 2009 2:03 am
  48. So Mike was using the system for disability ect.
Sounds like YOU are a socialist, hypocrite. Do you even know what these terms mean, you idiot.

  50. I agree with the apeman…mike is a hypocrite

  52. Pretty obvious Super hasn’t carried mail, I mean given an honest day’s work in a while either! All the carriers who were lazy & could not hack delivering mail went into management. Plus, it makes a lot of sense to pay $22 a month for EACH GPS unit to make sure a carrier doesn’t goe over 30 minutes for lunch. Another way the supervisors have gotten lazier…….too hot to sit in your car & time me?

  56. We had a pigeon on the dock. Couldn’t get it out of the open bays that she came in through. She didn’t need a ID card apparently. Truck Drivers open the bay doors to get in, hopping up to the dock. Your life is in the hands of a bunch of doofus who used to be military but don’t give a rip about being good postal workers. These are the pull two at a time while ground pounding and violate other safety rules to their own desmise.
